Patricia Glee Smith was born at Savanna, Illinois, USA.
She studied fine arts (painting) at the University of Illinois at Urbana and received a Bachelor of Arts degree. In Italy she studied etching at the Scuola del Libro in Urbino.

She is a fellow of the MacDowell Foundation for writers and artists and of the Ragdale Foundation in the USA.
She has painted trompe l'oeil murals in Europe and the USA.
She was a contributing artist to the New Yorker Magazine for many years.
She has worked with the National Museum of Oriental Art of Rome since 1976 as art director and artist.

She worked as expedition artist in Italy, Turkey, the Yemen and Tibet.
She participated in exhibitions with etchings and paintings in institutions and galleries in Europe, the USA and in the Yemen.

Ha studiato Belle Arti (pittura) presso la University of
Illinois a Urbana dove ha ricevuto il Bachelor of Arts.
In Italia ha studiato incisione alla Scuola del Libro di
Urbino.
E’ stata scelta a soggiornare come ospite dalla
Fondazione MacDowell e dalla Fondazione Ragdale,
ambedue per scrittori, artisti e compositori, negli USA.
Ha dipinto murali a trompe l'oeil in Europa e negli Stati
Uniti.
Ha contributo con disegni alla rivista "The New Yorker"
per molti anni.
Ha lavorato con il Museo Nazionale d'Arte Orientale di
Roma dagli anni ’80 come artista incaricata della
esecuzione di manifesti e di allestimenti di mostre, della
cura della grafica di cataloghi, della elaborazione di
disegni scientifici.
Ha lavorato come artista da campo al seguito di
spedizioni archeologiche italiane e straniere in Italia,
Turchia, Yemen e Tibet.
Ha esposto dipinti e incisioni in gallerie, ambasciate
degli Stati Uniti e centri culturali in Europa, nello Yemen
e negli USA.
